Sometimes when I’m not sure about a recipe but want to try it anyway, I scale down the recipe to 50% of the original. In those circumstances, I found it very difficult to calculate 50% of 3/4 cup, or to measure 50% of 1.5 tablespoon, etc. Then I found this handy table in my “Baking for Dummies” book. For instance 3/4th of a cup is equal to 12 tablespoons, so half of it would be 6 tablespoons.

I don’t know how to measure ingredients. I understand what 80g flour (3/5 cup) is? Please help? Thank you

Hi there, this recipe is asking for 80 grams of cake flour, milk and sugar… as well as 50 grams of canola oil.. I’m not sure what measurements to use. I only use cups not grams

hey so my recipe is asking for 1.5 tsp and i’m having trouble just trying to figure out the whole 1.5 thing. is that like 1/2 tsp or what. i’m kinda struggling here.

Thanks so much for including this conversion page. Being in Australia, I often give up on US recipes simply because I’m not sure how to convert them to my equipment. And often I’m not even sure whether an ingredient was measured by volume or by weight, so again, this conversion page helps.

Question: I have noticed that UK/European measurements are quite different from American. They have either a little more or a little less, such as Bread Flour, in grams to cups. That’s why my Bread Flour conversion was WAY too much, as Bread Flour is more dense.Like 500 grams of Bread Flour is 4 cups in our conversion, but in their actual recipe, it woukd be more like 3-3.5 cups.Help clarify, please.
